Terms of Service

By using TypeCut you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use TypeCut on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may bind that organisation to these terms.

You must be at least 13 years old to use TypeCut.

Your videos, your captions and your exports are yours. We do not acquire any ownership of them, and we do not use them to train anything.

You are responsible for:

• Holding the rights to the footage, music and voices you caption
• What you publish, and where you publish it
• Complying with the rules of whatever platform you post to

Do not use TypeCut to:

• Create or distribute unlawful, hateful or harassing material
• Caption content you have no right to use
• Impersonate a person or organisation in a way meant to deceive
• Attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service
• Resell, redistribute or automate access to the transcription service

We may suspend or end access to an account that is used this way.

The free tier lets you import, style, preview and export. It includes a limited monthly transcription allowance, exports at 720p, and adds a small TypeCut mark to the exported video.

Pro removes the watermark, unlocks every caption template, premium fonts and advanced customization, enables 1080p export, and raises the monthly transcription allowance. Current limits are shown in the app.

• Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play or the App Store, not by us directly.
• They renew automatically until cancelled.
• Cancel any time in your Google Play or App Store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.
• Refunds are handled under the policy of the store you bought through.
• Prices vary by region and may change. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

Automatic captions send that clip’s audio track to our server and on to OpenAI for transcription, as described in the Privacy Policy. We ask for your agreement before the first time this happens.

Transcription is machine-generated and will not always be correct. Accents, background noise, crosstalk and specialist vocabulary all affect it. Check captions before you publish — you are responsible for what your video says.

Transcription allowances are per calendar month and do not roll over.

We aim to keep TypeCut working, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Automatic captions depend on your network and on a third-party service, and may be unavailable at times. The offline “From my script” option does not depend on either.

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. Where a change removes something you are paying for, we will tell you in advance.

Projects and exports are stored on your device, not on our servers. That means they are not backed up by us. If you uninstall the app, clear its storage, or lose the device, that work is gone and we cannot recover it. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.

TypeCut is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost or corrupted content.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

You can stop using TypeCut and delete your account at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Sections 2, 9 and 11 survive termination.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use TypeCut after that means you accept the update.
